WHAT IS UNITED WAY? |

The United Way of Knox County is an independent, locally controlled private organization governed by a volunteer board of directors elected from our community. The United Way conducts an annual campaign to raise funds for local health and human service programs that serve the citizens of Knox County. |

WHY SUPPORT UNITED WAY? |

Giving to the United Way of Knox County allows local citizens to provide reliable funding to Knox County health and human service programs. A strong, stable United Way is a sign of community commitment and caring. |

WHAT ARE MY DONOR CHOICES? |
| A: |
The Community Fund (from the annual fundraising campaign) provides funding to 24 partner agency programs. It is the best way to make sure your contribution reaches the most people in need.
Donor Choice allows you to direct your contribution to a particular agency, another United Way, or any 501(c)3 tax exempt organization of your choice. |

WHY NOT GIVE DIRECTLY TO THE AGENCIES? |
| A: |
Contributing through United Way provides agencies with funds they can rely on every month rather than sporadic contributions. Monies donated to United Way agency programs go directly to those programs and cannot be used for excessive administrative fees or capital improvements. Giving through United Way reduces each agency's need to engage in costly, time-consuming individual fundraising efforts, so more time can be spent on helping others. |

DOES UNITED WAY SPEND DONATED MONEY ON FANCY DINNERS AND BIG EVENTS? |

No! And we are proud of that fact!! United Way of Knox County sponsored events, dinners and meetings are all underwritten by individuals or corporations. For events such as our Annual Awards Banquet, attendees pay for the cost of their meal. |

WHERE DO I GO WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT UNITED WAY? |

The United Way of Knox County office is located on the second floor at 311 E. Main St. Suite 215. in Galesburg, Illinois. Our office hours are 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
